“I haven’t been everywhere yet, but it’s on my list” – Susan Sontag
Recently I was browsing on Travelocity, per usual, and saw some bomb deals on hotels for San Francisco in the beginning of June. Within a few hours this lunch break day dream turned into a full blown 5 day road trip exploring all that Northern California has to offer, starting in Lake Tahoe!
First things first, I booked the CHEAPEST hotel in Tahoe City. This America’s Best Value Inn just so happened to be directly across from the lake, has free parking, continental breakfast, and best of all: A hot tub on the second story balcony over looking the lake! For under $100 a night this is a freaking GEM of a hotel!
As soon as we checked in we tossed our bags and ran across the street to the lake!
Another perk to the hotel was numerous coupons to restaurants that are all within walking distance. We opted for the Blue Agave (Mexican food!!!), it was really good and quiet (I think because it was a Thursday) but I had zero appetite after being the car for 10 hours.
After we got some food, we hit the hot tub and then called it a night! That drive had us so exhausted.
The next morning we grabbed a blanket, our free breakfast, and headed back down to the lake! Nobody was around so it felt like we had the whole lake to ourselves. It was so peaceful and definitely my favorite part of our short trip to Tahoe!
We explored the docks and the cute local shops until it was time to check out.
Then just like that, we were off to our next stop.
I cant wait to come back again and check out the Nevada side!
SEE YOU IN SACRAMENTO!
